READ & LISTEN

A short conversation

Google voice when available; device voice as a fallback. Kana readings help you read the written words; they do not show pitch accent.

Connect the patterns

Do not guess a verb class solely from final る. Keep the irregular negatives しない, こない, and ない distinct from regular godan and ichidan patterns.

Compare meanings before picking an ending: ています can describe an action or state, ことができます ability, てもいいですか permission, and たいです a wish.

Recall, check, then try again

Cover the dialogue and build a similar exchange with one changed detail. Then listen and compare your version with the taught pattern. Small changes expose what you can use without copying.

Try every question before revealing answers. A checkpoint is a personal study check, not a certification or a JLPT level. Review errors and repeat the speaking task after a break.

Showing an answer makes that question a practice item worth zero for this attempt. Retry with the answers hidden when you’re ready. If audio cannot play, use Show answer / text to practice by reading.
