Connect the patterns

Choose a pattern by meaning: noun + です for identity, noun + の + noun for a relationship, and が好きです for a preference.

Before a noun, use この rather than これ and 静かな rather than 静か. Remember that きれい belongs to the な-adjective group.

Recall, check, then try again

Cover the dialogue and build a similar exchange with one changed detail. Then listen and compare your version with the taught pattern. Small changes expose what you can use without copying.

Try every question before revealing answers. A checkpoint is a personal study check, not a certification or a JLPT level. Review errors and repeat the speaking task after a break.

EXERCISES

Practice questions

Try every question, then check your answers. Punctuation and spacing do not affect your score. Use the displayed Japanese spelling or the complete kana reading; mixed spellings are accepted only when explicitly listed. Long vowels, small kana, and verb endings matter.

Showing an answer makes that question a practice item worth zero for this attempt. Retry with the answers hidden when you’re ready. If audio cannot play, use Show answer / text to practice by reading.
