JAPANESE SENTENCE PATTERN

The て-form and requests

Connect verbs to useful endings.

て-form + ください / います / もいいですか

Ichidan verbs drop る and add て. Irregular する becomes して and 来る becomes 来て(きて). Godan う・つ・る becomes って, む・ぶ・ぬ becomes んで, く becomes いて, ぐ becomes いで, and す becomes して.

行く is a common exception: 行って. Attach ください to request an action. The て-form can also connect actions or build ています and permission expressions. It does not by itself mark past tense.
